Max Verstappen's victory in the F1 Sprint at the Austrian Grand Prix has helped the Dutchman to extend his lead in the World Championship.
The winner of the Sprint is awarded eight points, meaning that Verstappen's total tally now stands at 189 points. This has increased his advantage over Sergio Perez to 38 points.
Perez put in a solid drive to finish P5 after starting from 13th on the grid, which has given him a further four points.
Behind him, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz remain in third and fourth respectively, while George Russell and Lewis Hamilton also added to their tallies to stay in fifth and sixth.
McLaren face pressure
In the Constructors' Championship, Red Bull remain at the top on 340 points, with Ferrari only cutting into that lead by one point. The Milton Keynes-based squad are ahead by 62 points following the Sprint.
Mercedes hold third with 210 points, still some way off Ferrari's 278.
Behind them, McLaren are facing increasing pressure from Alpine for fourth. Esteban Ocon took home three points in the Sprint, while the Woking-based squad finished outside of the top eight.
This means that Alpine are now only three points away from McLaren.
