The FIA were kept busy during last weekend's Chinese Grand Prix following an array of incidents, resulting in 11 penalty points being awarded.
Each penalty point remains on a driver's licence for 12 months, with a race ban being the punishment for if a driver has 12 points on their licence within a year.
Since the system was introduced 10 years ago, no driver has ever actually gone over the 12 penalty points.
However, following last weekend, there are a number of drivers who currently have to be very careful.
Fernando Alonso received a 10-second time penalty and three penalty points on his license for an incident with Carlos Sainz during the China sprint race. The Aston Martin driver has received six penalty points within a month's time.
In China, more drivers were additionally penalised. For example, Daniel Ricciardo received two penalty points on his license for overtaking Nico Hulkenberg under the safety car.
Lance Stroll also received two penalty points for driving into the back of Ricciardo, bringing his total to seven penalty points.
Kevin Magnussen received two penalty points for a crash with Yuki Tsunoda. And Logan Sargeant was awarded two points on his license for also overtaking Nico Hulkenberg under the safety car.
