It took three red flags, two Safety Car periods, one Virtual Safety Car and a lot of head-scratching, but Max Verstappen finally took victory in the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
A late wall strike for Kevin Magunssen on Lap 54 of 58, triggered the red flag for the second time for debris, leading to a two lap shootout.
This itself was abandoned after four cars were eliminated - including the Alpine duo of Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.
After the rule book was consulted, the order from Lap 56 was reinstated as this was the last time the FIA could accurately judge the running order.
This meant Fernando Alonso was bumped back up to third while Carlos Sainz was demoted from fourth to 12th after a penalty as seven of the 10 teams picked up points.
