Ex-Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan has asserted that he would like to see Alex Albon receive a race drive at Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen.

Albon raced with Red Bull for one and a half seasons before being dropped in favour of Sergio Perez ahead of the 2021 campaign.

However, last year's difficult year for Perez has resulted in questions being asked about his future at Red Bull, with his contract expiring at the end of 2024.

Albon's current deal with Williams also runs out at the end of the upcoming campaign.

The Thai-British driver struggled alongside Verstappen when they raced together in 2019 and 2020, but Jordan has backed Albon to impress if handed a return to Red Bull.

“I have a real soft spot for Albon,” Jordan told the Formula For Success podcast.

“I just think that given the right situations, he could really, really be mustered.

“I would like to see [him] at some stage given the chance alongside Max, I think he could really surprise.”

Jordan reveals his F1 dream team

Jordan's F1 team, which ran under the same name as its owner, competed in F1 for 15 years and won four Grands Prix during its history.

Although it has been absent from the grid for some time, Jordan revealed who he would like to sign if he was still a team boss today.

“I’m a huge fan of [Charles] Leclerc, I would probably have him in there for sure,” Jordan said.

“Lewis [Hamilton] would be very hard to overlook, that’s for certain. Time and years are not necessarily in his favour. But I’d be thinking further down the road.

“I wouldn’t have [Fernando] Alonso or Lewis in there. I'm going for Leclerc and Lando [Norris]. That would be the team I would like."
