Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has confirmed Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are both "fine" after the pair had to skip their post-Singapore Grand Prix media obligations.

The Brackley-based team informed media including RacingNews365 that "unfortunately neither George or Lewis will be attending the media pen this evening as they recover from the exertions of this evening’s race."

The message added: "We will however offer a quote from both of them in due course."

Russell finished where he started, in fourth, at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, which is considered the most physically-demanding race on the F1 calendar.

Meanwhile, his team-mate was left in a difficult situation when his off-set used-soft tyre/hard compound strategy saw him have to fight on considerably older tyres for much of the race, meaning he ended up in sixth, having started third.

After their efforts, Wolff explained to media including RacingNews365 that it was "overheating" that caused them to miss their duties.

“they’re both suffering from the overheating, but they’re fine now, the Austrian said. "They put themselves in an ice bath, and I think that helped a bit”
