Yuki Tsunoda has issued his latest plea for Sergio Perez's Red Bull seat, following the Mexican driver's latest shocker at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Having struggled throughout free practice at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, Perez failed to progress to the second part of qualifying.

It marked the 34-year-old's sixth Q1 elimination this season, whilst Tsunoda qualified just two places behind Max Verstappen in seventh.

In a boost to Red Bull to counter Perez's latest struggle, Tsunoda split the McLaren drivers, increasing Verstappen's chances of claiming a fourth consecutive F1 drivers' title on Saturday night.

As for Perez, his qualifying performance has raised further speculation over his future, with Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko revealing that discussions will be held after Abu Dhabi.

Whilst he has received a new contract to continue with the sister team next year, Tsunoda's name has never been linked to Perez's seat.

Many have called for the Japanese driver to be given a chance by the Milton Keynes-based outfit, as Tsunoda has led RB the past two seasons and has improved considerably.

Despite his performances, Marko and Red Bull team principal Christian Horner have rarely discussed the RB driver, with Tsunoda being unsure what else he can do to impress the duo.

"If I knew [what to do], I'll do it right now after this interview," Tsunoda joked to Sky Sports F1. "But those things I can't control.

"All I can control is my performance, like I've shown this year so far. I trust myself and haven shown my consistent results as much as possible.

"Hopefully they'll change their mind. Even if anything doesn't change, I'll do as much as I can.

"I know what I can do when I step into Red Bull, but for now, I just got to prepare as much as possible, show the good results and let them decide."
