Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula 1 Team, it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue! RB's fresh look has received plenty of criticism during the winter break, let alone for their new name.

Since rebranding from AlphaTauri, RB CEO Peter Bayer has made it perfectly clear that the team's relationship with parent outfit Red Bull has tightened, to the extent that the VCARB-01 consists of as many parts as they were legally able to take from the Milton Keynes-based side.

This has been discussed at length, with length being the problem here! With the team having opted to become Racing Bulls, they had to figure out how to get title partners Visa and Cash App into the new team name.

The name mentioned at the start of this article is, as put by Bayer himself, " a bit of a mouthful", resulting in the team's bosses spending time on how they can incorporate both sponsors into the team name without it being too long.

To shorten the name, Racing Bulls Formula 1 Team was dropped, with Racing Bulls having been incorporated into RB, forming the Visa Cash App RB squad that we now have on the grid. During pre-season testing last week in Bahrain, Bayer explained how the team's new name was born.

"I think maybe to go back in history, the Racing Bulls name is actually part of the Red Bull philosophy, they have the flying goals where Mr. Mateschitz had his planes," explained Bayer to select media including RacingNews365.

"So that seemed to be like a logical consequence, and Racing Bulls is our company name in Italy. And we've been discussing, you know, the different options but we just felt that already as people, you know, as I said myself before, it's a bit of a mouthful.

"If you imagine the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula 1 Team, you'll be tired at the end of writing the article. So that was really where the idea came from to abbreviate Racing Bulls into RB. And to put that as a chassis name that, you know, simply remains as a sort of, you know, that historic element that we want to carry forward if partners were to change."

Due to the length of the new team name, most have already started referring to the Red Bull sister team as simply RB, with Bayer accepting that the outfit can't expect the full team name to always be used.

"Yeah, I think that's, you know, it's something that we are trying to embrace really as a challenge," Bayer added. "I think we are realistic enough that we cannot expect the media to continuously say Visa Cash App RB."
