Kevin Magnussen has called for an "improvement to the rules" to stop drivers from playing any games after his actions in the Miami Grand Prix sprint.
The Haas driver received 35 seconds worth of time penalties in the 19-lap race at the Miami International Autodrome, for leaving the circuit and gaining an advantage on multiple occasions, whilst duelling with Lewis Hamilton for eighth place.
He defended his tactics post-race, but one comment drew the attention of the stewards, who investigated him for alleged "unsportsmanlike behaviour", but was ultimately cleared.
"I was only aware of one penalty, that was all I was told about," Magnussen told select media including RacingNews365.
"And I was also aware that people behind me who we're fighting closely in the championship also had penalties.
"So there's still a great incentive for me to keep fighting. And I wasn't aware that that's not allowed because you have a penalty."

The Danish driver's driving in the sprint race was a hot topic at the conclusion of Saturday, with McLaren team principal Andreas Stella suggesting that the experienced driver should "stay at home".
Magnussen accepted all of his penalties after the sprint with complete honesty and conceded that they were "well-deserved", with him even suggesting that changes should be made to the rules to stop antics like his being performed.
"I do agree that there could be an improvement in the rules, that if you're fighting and you do something that's not allowed, it'd be great if I had the power to tell you to give it back or swap positions, because that way, it's going to have an effect immediately," Magnussen explained.
"And you know, to stop any sort of games being played.
`'But in this case, the games that I was playing was going slow in the right parts of the track.
"Not anything else, just going slow and creating a gap. I'm not aware that it's not allowed."
