Jos Verstappen has appeared to shut the door on Max Verstappen's dream of the two ever competing together at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Three-time F1 champion Max is a keen admirer of other racing series, and has hinted at his desire to compete in the twice-around-the-clock French endurance race once his grand prix racing days are over.

Ideally, the Red Bull driver would want to compete with his father, one-time F1 podium sitter Jos, who has carved out a career rallying in recent times.

When asked if he would ever consider Le Mans in the future, Verstappen senior appeared to rule it out.

"No, I enjoy rallying. Let the young guys race at Le Mans; I find rallying much more exciting," he told Verstappen.com when asked if he had ambitions to return to circuit racing.

"I always enjoyed the on-track battles, but in rallying, the stage itself is the challenge.

"On a circuit, the track is essentially always the same. That is not the case in rallying. When you run the same stage a second time, it could be covered in sand and be completely different."
