Front-row starter Power crashes out of Indy 500

Will Power's hopes of a second Indianapolis 500 win came to a crunching end on Sunday as he hit the wall at Turn 1.

2018 Indianapolis 500 race winner Will Power had his dreams of a second victory at the famous race dashed by a crash on lap 146 of the race.

Power started the race from second place on the grid, sharing the front row with his Team Penske team-mates.

The Australian was running side-by-side through the opening corner with a rival car as he battled for position before getting loose and hitting the wall.

Power has become the 11th driver to retire from the race.
