Alpine has announced that reserve driver Jack Doohan will once again take over the A524 in practice for the British Grand Prix.

F1 rules dictate that every driver must hand over their car for one practice session during the year to aid the development of young and rookie drivers.

Esteban Ocon handed his car over to Doohan in Canada, but rain prevented the Australian from doing a full programme in FP1, with the son of MotoGP legend Mick set to receive another chance in Pierre Gasly's car at this weekend's British GP at Silverstone.

It will be the sixth FP1 session Doohan has completed for the team, doing so in Mexico City and Abu Dhabi in 2022 and 2023, in addition to the outing in Montreal in June.

Doohan is a major contender for the race seat in 2025 that Ocon will depart, with Mick Schumacher another major possibility, if Carlos Sainz cannot be tempted to sign.

The two are to take part in a test at Paul Ricard on Wednesday in the 2022 car.
