Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds has joked that people can stop "trolling" him, for placing a $250k bet on Max Verstappen not losing the F1 drivers' title this year.

Earlier this year in February, Dodds insisted that if any driver beat the Red Bull star to the drivers' crown, he would give them the large sum to donate to a charity of their choice.

To Dodds' delight, the 27-year-old sealed his fourth consecutive title in the Las Vegas Grand Prix after finishing ahead of main rival Lando Norris.

Verstappen and Norris started in fifth and sixth, with both drivers having finished the race exactly where they started from, respectively.

For the FE CEO, it ensures his bet is safe; however, as a gesture of goodwill, he has confirmed that he will still put the $250k to good use, with more details on that to be revealed soon.

"Huge congrats to Red Bull Racing and to Max - Four World Drivers' Championships in as many years," Dodds wrote on LinkedIn

"It was great to see a more competitive end to the season than ‘many’ expected.

"I’m relieved that my connections may now stop trolling me about losing my $250k bet, where I was so confident that Max would win, I offered any driver who beat him to the title the money to donate to a charity of their choice.

"It seems a shame to not put the money to good use anyway. I’ll update soon on the plan.
In the meantime, congrats again Max. Awesome driving. See you in Jimmys."
