Max Verstappen has long been an advocate for high-speed, challenging tracks and named one circuit in particular when asked about venues he would like to see on the F1 calendar.

Max Verstappen has stated he would like to see F1 return to Mugello in the future due to its “fast corners”.

Mugello is largely used for motorcycle racing but F1 ventured to the Italian circuit in 2020 during the season disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its layout features many high-speed corners which posed a great challenge to the drivers four years ago.

Verstappen qualified in third place before being taken out on the opening lap in a multi-car incident at the second corner.

However, it didn't sway his opinion of the circuit, as when asked what tracks he would like to see more of on the F1 calendar going forward, Verstappen told the Box Box Box podcast: “Mugello. Fast corners.

“Just flowing tracks. So not too many like lower speed, stop-start, just flowing, fast corners.”

Verstappen previously voiced his dislike for a number of newer tracks on the F1 calendar, particularly those that are set up through city streets.

The three-time world champion was also questioned if he would like to see ovals on the F1 calendar, but voiced his opposition to the idea.

“On an F1 calendar? No,” he stated.

“No, not for me. I like to do it for fun, online, but not in real life. IndyCar, NASCAR, but I like to watch it, not to drive it myself.”
