Pit stops in Formula 1 have become a competition of their own in recent years, as teams push the boundaries to prevent the minimum amount of time lost.

Sometimes it can go wrong, like Alpine's out of control spiral which led to Esteban Ocon being penalised twice during the Bahrain Grand Prix. But when they get it right, it can be the difference between winning or losing a race.

Since the introduction of 18-inch wheels in 2022, it was anticipated that pit stops would be slower due to the wider and heavier 42kg tyres.

However, this year saw some of the quickest pit stops on record in F1 as teams have perfected how to choreograph changing a full set of tyres.

Who stood out from the rest?

McLaren has stood out from the pack this year, taking six of the top ten positions with their pit stops across the season with their consistency.

Their quickest pit stop was at the Qatar GP on Lando Norris, achieving a 1.80s stop which beat the world record set by Red Bull at the 2019 Brazilian GP on Max Verstappen.

Ferrari also produced a quick stop for Charles Leclerc at Qatar with a 1.93s stop, while Red Bull is third on the list with their 1.98s pit stop on Sergio Pérez at Hungary.
