Porsche announce Müller as new works driver

Porsche has confirmed that it has signed Nico Müller as a works driver, a day after Andretti announced the Swiss driver as Jake Dennis' Formula E team-mate for next season. 

Andretti is Porsche's customer team in FE, with Müller having joined the American team as his first role in his new position as a works driver for the German manufacturer. 

Müller has joined the Porsche motorsport family after two seasons with ABT in FE and two and a half years with Peugeot in the World Endurance Championship hypercar class. 

Porsche potentially has plans for Müller in addition to driving for its customer FE team, with the German company currently deciding whether the 32-year-old will race for Porsche in another category.

Whether Müller will race for Porsche elsewhere in addition to FE, will be confirmed at a later date. For Müller, joining Porsche is a career milestone and one which is certainly deserved. 

“Being a Porsche works driver is a childhood dream come true for me," said Müller. When I first came into contact with Porsche, I immediately realised: this is something very special. 

"As a racing driver, Porsche is the brand you look up to. To be able to represent Porsche now is a great honour that fills me with a great deal of pride.”

Müller has enjoyed success across several different categories, with him being not only an FE podium finisher, but a two-time DTM runner-up and Nürburgring 24 Hours winner. 

He is a decorated driver who has driven exceptionally well for backmarker ABT in FE the last two seasons. 

With Andretti – Dennis won the world drivers' title for the outfit in 2023 – Müller has an opportunity to truly show how good he is and potentially compete for the FE crown.

"We are delighted to welcome another professional with such extensive and varied motorsport experience to our squad. Nico has already successfully demonstrated his skills in various challenging racing series. 

"Among other things, he has won the Nürburgring 24 Hours and was twice runner-up in the DTM. We initially expect his expertise in formula racing to play a crucial role for Porsche’s Formula E programme. 

"We will announce at a later date whether and in which other series Nico will also drive for Porsche.”
