Fernando Alonso became the fourth driver to crash and cause a red flag during qualifying ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

The Spaniard found the wall midway through the Q3 session after spinning at high speed into the barrier - despite the heavy impact, Alonso was able to escape unaided.

His crash came just minutes after team-mate Lance Stroll brought an early end to Q2 with his shunt.

Franco Colapinto and Carlos Sainz were the two other drivers that crashed during the session.

With less than four hours to go before the start of the grand prix, Aston Martin will be in a race against time to get both of their cars on the starting grid.
