Jean-Eric Vergne defeated Oliver Rowland in the final duel to secure pole position for the opening race of the inaugural Shanghai E-Prix.
In doing so, the DS Penske driver equalled Sebastian Buemi's record 16 Formula E pole positions. The Frenchman's 1:13.322 set in the final was the quickest lap of the session.
Mitch Evans will start from third after being denied a place in the final by just one-thousandth of a second, with Rowland having come out of that semi-final as the victor.
Pascal Wehrlein qualified in fourth, whilst championship leader Nick Cassidy was knocked out in the group stage and will start from the fifth row at the Shanghai International Circuit.
