Lando Norris is ensuring he remains focused on himself as he looks to close down Max Verstappen's margin in the drivers' championship.

Verstappen currently holds a 52-point lead over Norris as he aims for his fourth consecutive F1 title.

Red Bull's long-standing advantage at the head of the field has been eliminated and the team has not taken to the top step of the podium since the Spanish Grand Prix in June.

Norris won last time out in Singapore to further decrease the deficit to Verstappen and now has six rounds to overthrow the lead as he hopes to claim his maiden championship.

When asked to detail his strategy for the final rounds of the campaign, Norris told media including RacingNews365: “Try and do the same again, but Max is pushing hard.

“I'm sure Red Bull are pushing hard. So, I mean, it's obvious. I'm doing my best every weekend. I'm trying to get the most points I can every weekend. That includes fastest lap and things like that.”

Half of the final six rounds of the ongoing season will be sprint events, meaning even more points are up for grabs through those weekends.

However, Norris acknowledged that Verstappen still has the upper hand in the fight, despite seemingly possessing the less competitive car.

“But if Max keeps finishing second and Red Bull keep doing like they did this weekend, then nothing more I can do,” Norris said.

“So just focus on myself and focus on us as a team. That's it.”
