Leclerc's brother makes closer step to racing in F1

The brother of Charles Leclerc will make his debut in Formula 2 in 2023, the championship one level below Formula 1.

Ferrari junior driver Arthur Leclerc, brother of Charles Leclerc, will join the Formula 2 grid in 2023 with DAMS. Leclerc steps up to the F1 feeder series after two seasons in Formula 3, where he scored two victories in his rookie season in 2020 at Le Castellet and Zandvoort. This year he finished sixth in the Drivers' Championship after a single victory at Silverstone. His first taste of F2 machinery will be with DAMS at the post-season test at Yas Marina this week between 23-25 November. “I’m delighted to be making the step up to Formula 2 with DAMS in 2023. They’re a very successful team that has achieved great results in the championship, and I hope I can be a part of that and continue the team’s success,” said Leclerc.

Leclerc joins team managed by former F1 driver

The Monegasque shared his delight at joining DAMS, which is owned by former F1 driver Charles Pic. He added: “Charles Pic has done an amazing job to help the team back to winning ways throughout the season and I’m aiming to keep that going next year. "We’ve a lot of work to do before the start of the new campaign in Bahrain in March, and I’m really looking forward to getting started in the post-season test in Abu Dhabi!”
