Liam Lawson has suggested there is a chance he will not be racing in F1 at all next season.

Lawson was called up to RB ahead of the United States Grand Prix earlier this year to replace Daniel Ricciardo.

The team outlined Lawson would see out the year with no indication of his 2025 plans.

However, it is widely expected Lawson will remain on the grid next season, either with RB or alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull to replace an under-pressure Sergio Perez.

But Lawson has suggested he has had no assurances over his spot in the field for next year.

“I'm very focused on these races that I'm doing right now,” Lawson told media including RacingNews365, ahead of the season-ending Qatar and Abu Dhabi GPs.

“I know that I’m being evaluated on these races. I don't know where I'll be next year, if I'll [even] be in the sport.

“Obviously, I'd like to think that I will be, but until I get that confirmation, I'm focused on these races.”

Lawson expresses Vegas repeat concern

Lawson has impressed since returning to the cockpit this year, scoring a duo of ninth places in the last four races.

The New Zealander is content with the job he has been doing for the team but understands he cannot have a repeat of a difficult Las Vegas event during the final two rounds.

“Overall it's been pretty strong over most of the races,” he said.

“Obviously, I can't have two more Vegas weekends going into the last two. We're in a good place.

“In terms of what I'm doing next year. I don't know and there will be no decision on that until after the season.”
