Lewis Hamilton has no intention of taking Oliver Bearman under his wing when the Briton joins the F1 grid in 2025, although has stated his door is open should he seek some advice.
Bearman has signed a multi-year deal with Haas, becoming the first rookie to be confirmed in next year's field.
The 19-year-old, who is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, made his F1 debut earlier this year at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, stepping in for an unwell Carlos Sainz.
Hamilton will join the Italian squad next year, bringing an end to his long-standing tenure with Mercedes.
However, Hamilton asserted their nationalities and links to Ferrari would not see him take on a mentor role for Bearman.
When asked by media including RacingNews365 if he will take Bearman under his wing, Hamilton replied: “No, I've not been asked to and it’s not even been a thought.
“I don't think he needs to. I think he's a sharp enough lad.
“I mean, naturally, as one of the older drivers here, my door's always open if anyone ever has a question or any advice that's needed.”
Hamilton praises British drivers presence
Bearman's F1 debut in Jeddah earlier this year saw him drive to seventh place, having been thrust into qualifying and the grand prix with just one practice session under his belt.
His arrival will see him become the fourth British driver on the grid, with Hamilton moving to praise the talent emerging from Great Britain.
“He did a phenomenal job earlier this year,” he said. “A bright young talent, and I think it's great that the UK is pumping out a lot of great young talented drivers.
“I would say Silverstone and the BRDC have been a part of that because they do invest in a lot of the sport’s young and up-and-coming drivers.
“I think it's amazing for the sport. Takes the pressure off of all of us. At least hopefully one of the Brits will be up there.”
