Haas will reportedly bring a B-spec version of their car to the United States Grand Prix at Austin in November, in a bid to address its stagnating development of the VF-23. According to Auto Motor Und Sport , the team will take a lot of inspiration from the Red Bull RB19 with new sidepods, engine cover and floor. The current-spec VF-23 is similar to the Ferrari concept, which is unsurprising given the team buys a lot of its parts from the Italian team. But the Haas engineers have found that this concept has led to a development dead end, with its current car design making it tricky to exploit the effects from the diffuser and seal the underbody of the car. Even though the team can produce great qualifying laps, this often falls apart in the race due to the high tyre degradation. Kevin Magnussen dropped out of the points at the high downforce Zandvoort during the recent Dutch Grand Prix, as the Haas went through its tyres quicker than anyone else.
Haas focusing on 2024
Team Principal Guenther Steiner has previously spoken about the fluidity of their decision to switch focus to 2024 , emphasising the importance of understanding their current car problems. As much of the car architecture must remain the same for the remainder of the season, Haas wants to use the last five races to gather information on their development path for 2024. Haas is currently in a battle with Williams for seventh in the Constructors' Championship, with the gap now increased to 10 points following Alex Albon's high points finish at Monza.
