Fernando Alonso's sixth place finish in last weekend's Canadian Grand Prix saw the Spaniard break a record previously held by Michael Schumacher, for the longest time period of scoring points.
On Sunday 9th March 2003, Alonso secured his first F1 points in the Australian Grand Prix. Since then, the two-time world champion has scored a point in 257 F1 races.
After finishing sixth at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Alonso broke Schumacher's record for the longest period between scoring his first and last point, a record the seven-time world champion had held since 2012.
There are a staggering 21 years, 2 months and 17 days between Schumacher's first and last F1 points, although Alonso now has 21 years and 3 months between his.
Given the speed of Alonso and the Aston Martin, he is only going to further sharpen this record. With Alonso continuing in F1 until at least 2026, the question is whether there will ever be anyone else who will improve this record...
