Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has called on the FIA to further explore Red Bull's front bib trick following its revelation over the US Grand Prix weekend. Following scrutiny from rival teams, Red Bull demonstrated to the FIA just how the device works , which allows the team to adjust the front level of the bib. Red Bull has asserted it has never used the device in a way that would be deemed illegal. McLaren CEO Zak Brown has called for Red Bull to sign affidavits as the FIA has admitted it cannot verify when it was used at previous rounds. Wolff has insisted the sport's governing body needs to look further into the subject to reach a definitive conclusion. "I think the leadership of the FIA is going to look at that and say, 'What are we doing with this?,” Wolff told media including RacingNews365 . How long the device was been in use by Red Bull is unclear, however, Wolff asserted it should have been spotted long ago. "I think we're all designing parts that are F1 standard, that are to the highest specifications and that are within the regulations," he said. "Sometimes on things like aero-elasticity, you would probably try to go as far as you can. “There are other things overall but there are certain parts which you would question why they exist. “We haven’t seen it for a long time and we should have.”
