F1 returns to the Shanghai International Circuit next weekend after five years away. With multiple unknowns facing the teams and drivers at the Chinese Grand Prix, should it be hosting a sprint race?
This week, Max Verstappen's witheringly dismissed F1's decision to hold the first sprint weekend of the season in China, sarcastically calling it a "very smart" choice.
It will be the first time contemporary ground-effect F1 cars have raced at the venue and with the track having been resurfaced, there are concerns that the single hour of practice will not be enough to allow teams and drivers to get up to speed.
Whilst the Dutchman feels that it would be "better to have a normal race weekend there," he does concede that it "probably spices things up a bit more".
Practice looks set to be the most critical of the season, but whether it can add an element of unpredictability to the weekend remains to be seen.
