RB team principal Laurent Mekies has confirmed the squad will undergo a name change for the 2025 F1 season.
The Red Bull junior squad ran as Toro Rosso for 14 seasons before rebranding to AlphaTauri in 2020. It went through another name change this year, switching to the RB moniker with a fresh title sponsor in place.
However, the name will be further ironed out next year with RB being extended to Racing Bulls, which has long been unofficially associated with the 'RB' label.
“Our team is Visa CashApp Racing Bulls,” Mekies confirmed to Sky F1 when asked what the team will be called next year. “Not RB, Racing Bulls.”
The driver line-up at the team is not yet locked in with Liam Lawson unconfirmed beyond the end of the year amid links with a Red Bull promotion.
“As much as there is noise outside of the team, what we are trying to do is make sure our drivers develop well enough in such a way they are becoming attractive for Red Bull Racing,” Mekies added.
“That's what we are trying to achieve - so as a result when we start to hear rumours about them going elsewhere, it's actually good news.”
Williams' mid-season substitute Franco Colapinto has also been rumoured to be in contention for a switch to the Faenza-based squad - however, Mekies remained coy over the potential of such a switch.
“Regarding Franco, it's natural that many teams are thinking about him,” he said.
“As far as we are concerned, we are a team that is functioning as a young driver development [programme] and therefore our focus is on that.
“If and when there is an opportunity for other drivers to go to the bigger team, it's only good news for this team.”
