Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack has insisted he needs to be “careful” regarding conversations with Adrian Newey.
Newey will join the Silverstone-based squad in March, 2025 following his exit from the Red Bull organisation that he has been part of for almost 20 years.
Newey, who is widely regarded as one of the sport's greatest ever car designers, will join as a shareholder and managing technical partner.
When asked by RacingNews365 how much contact he can have with Newey, Krack replied: “I don't know. I need to check with our legal department.”
Newey was unveiled by Aston Martin at a presentation in September, a move that was described by Red Bull boss Christian Horner as premature.
“I think I'm allowed to talk when we had the presentation, we were exchanging politeness,” Krack added.
However, as Newey steps back from his involvement with Red Bull ahead of his switch to Aston Martin, Krack acknowledged he needs to be wary over the potential of overstepping what is legally permitted.
“I think you need to be very careful with these things,” he insisted.
“We do not want to get into legal [issues] going forward. That would would just not feel right.”
