Perez baffled by lack of consistency in US GP track limits debate

Sergio Perez was left baffled by the lack of consistency with track limits at the Circuit of the Americas following an overnight change to the circuit.

It was agreed to extend the kerbs on the exits of Turn 9, 12 and 19 after discussions between drivers, teams and the FIA after Friday's running, giving the drivers "more margin".

Max Verstappen had his pole lap time deleted for exceeding track limits on Friday at Turn 19, which would have stood after the changes were applied.

It is the second time that track limits have been changed overnight after Pirelli discovered cuts on the tyres at the last race in Qatar due to excessive kerb running at high speed.

Perez: I don't know what we do now

Perez felt some drivers were still falling foul of track limits, with 17 laps deleted during the 19-lap Sprint race due to exceeding track limits.

When asked if the changes overnight had made any difference, Perez told media, including RacingNews365: "They [talks] were positive because it was a little bit easier to see them [track limits].

"But I saw already just briefly there was a few occasions where drivers should be punished and they didn't. I don't think they were able to find any consistency.

"I don't know what to what to do now, it's not like whatever I say is going to change anything."
