Former F1 driver Jos Verstappen has questioned where son Max's success in the sport will end after a 50th career victory at the United States Grand Prix.

Red Bull driver Verstappen secured the milestone at the Circuit of the Americas having started from sixth on the grid to follow up his Sprint victory from the day previous.

Saturday's 19-lap event had suggested an easy victory for the Dutchman, who secured his third Drivers' title in a row at the Qatar Grand Prix, but the main event was far from simple as brake issues plagued Verstappen throughout the race, allowing Lewis Hamilton to close in near the end - though the Mercedes driver was disqualified.

Enjoy the moment

The result confirmed Verstappen's 15th win of the season, tying for the single-campaign record for victories he set en route to last year's title triumph.

Addressing his son's result, Verstappen Sr said: "This was more exciting than expected. After the Sprint race we expected an easier race"

"You also heard it, there were some problems with the brakes. They changed them on Saturday evening, but the feeling was not there with the brakes. Then you get things like this.

"I like every victory! Where does this end?

"You can see, it's all coming closer together. So we have to enjoy the moment."
