F1 has announced the return of the Portuguese Grand Prix at Portimao on a two-year contract, starting from the 2027 season.
Owing to a number of races being cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Portimao stepped in to host the first Portuguese GP since 1996, with Lewis Hamilton claiming his 92nd race win, breaking Michael Schumacher's record of 91, which had stood since 2006.

Max Verstappen's post-season plans have seen the four-time champion travel to Portugal to partake in another GT3 test.
The Dutchman has had several outings in touring car machinery this year, most notably at an endurance race around the Nordschleife, which he won alongside team-mate Chris Lulham.

Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso achieved a rare piece of F1 perfection in 2025 - out-qualifying their team-mate for every grand prix.
A whitewash in qualifying is extremely rare, with Verstappen achieving it for the second time alongside Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, having beaten Alex Albon 17-0 in 2020.

Arvid Lindblad warned of 'tough introduction' ahead of F1 debut
Oliver Bearman has warned Arvid Lindblad that he is in for a “tough introduction” to F1 when he joins the grid next year.
Lindblad has been signed to the Racing Bulls team for the 2026 campaign, where he will partner Liam Lawson during his first season in the sport.
