Oliver Bearman has warned Arvid Lindblad that he is in for a “tough introduction” to F1 when he joins the grid next year.
Lindblad has been signed to the Racing Bulls team for the 2026 campaign, where he will partner Liam Lawson during his first season in the sport.
The Briton has been part of the Red Bull F1 programme for several years and has taken part in various sessions with the team.
His F1 promotion comes following just one season in Formula 2, where he endured mixed fortunes en route to sixth in the drivers' standings.
Bearman hailed the 18-year-old talents and asserted that he is ready for the jump to F1.
“It will definitely be challenging, but I believe he's a really talented driver,” Bearman told media including RacingNews365.
“I was in F2 with PREMA when he was in F3 and he was doing a very good job all year. He's had a great season in F2 now.
“I know he has what it takes to race in F1, there's no doubt about that - but it will be a tough introduction.”
Lindblad's debut in the sport comes at the same time as a regulation overhaul as the F1 field starts from a clean slate.
Bearman suggested that it will offer a bit of relief for Lindblad, who will be the grid's only rookie next year.
“If anything, the new regulations are a bit of a leveller for everyone anyway, because there are so many things to learn for all of us,” he said.
“For us rookies coming in this year, we were coming into a regulation cycle which was very mature and all of the drivers had a lot of experience with, we were just starting out with it.
“There are pros and cons to joining in every era of F1. I'm sure he would prefer to be on the grid with other rookies.
“But I'm sure he'd prefer to be the only rookie than not be in F1.”
