As is the norm for the Monaco Grand Prix, McLaren, like all the teams in the Formula 1 paddock, have introduced modifications to adapt to the iconic streets of the Principality.
However, the Woking-based team has made an interesting specific change to its brake ducts, which has seen McLaren increase its size.
This is an unusual modification for the Circuit de Monaco, which is renowned for not putting the brakes under high stress.
In fact, the brake discs often struggle to enter the ideal operating temperature range, even when the ambient temperature is high.
As a result, it is a surprising modification by McLaren, as it goes in the opposite direction to what is normally seen in Monaco to partially vent the brakes.
Initial indicators would suggest that McLaren has opted to go down this route as a direct relationship with the disposal of heat, in favour of better tyre pressures management.
An increase in the difficulty of managing the transmission of heat to the wheel rims was created by a specific technical directive introduced ahead of Imola, which could be the cause of McLaren's brake ducts modification for Monaco.
The British outfit enter the eighth round of the season this weekend with a remarkable 132-point lead over Mercedes in the constructors' title, whilst Oscar Piastri leads the drivers' by 13 points.
However, it's usually supreme tyre management was matched by Red Bull in Imola, raising eyebrows as to whether its biggest strength has been weakened.
