Lewis Hamilton has provided insight into the impact of Angela Cullen after the New Zealander took on a new role in motorsport.

At the start of last year's campaign, Hamilton confirmed he had split with long-time trainer Cullen who was often seen by his side during grand prix weekends.

The duo worked together for seven years, with Hamilton stating at the time of her exit that the two “will never leave each other” and that he was “very grateful for everything she’s given me”.

Cullen has since taken on a new position in the IndyCar Series, working with compatriot Marcus Armstrong.

Armstrong, who is a former member of the Ferrari junior programme, recorded his best career result in the category last weekend when he crossed the finish line in fifth place in Indianapolis.

Reflecting on the impact Cullen has on a driver, Hamilton told media including RacingNews365: “I think she's a healer. She's a positive person.

“Her purpose is to bring love to everyone that she meets, which she does. And she's passionate about sports.”

Cullen 'very, very happy' with new role

Hamilton made a major change to his personal entourage earlier this year, bringing back former right-hand man Marc Hynes to his inner circle.

With Cullen no longer one of Hamilton's closest companions trackside, the seven-time world champion asserted the 49-year-old is happy away from F1.

“I think she's really enjoying it, a different environment, but still racing,” he said. “And I think from her time here, she became such a passionate racing fan.

“So I think once you catch the bug, it's hard to get out of it. And why should she?

“She belongs in the sport. She's definitely very, very happy right now.
