Rain and thunder could play a factor in qualifying for the 2024 F1 Brazilian Grand Prix, with new showers forming on the weather radar.
The FIA has currently noted a 60% chance of rain for the start of qualifying, a figure which remains at 60% after the session to determine the grid for Sunday's race at Interlagos.
However, very heavy showers are forming close to São Paulo, with the current direction of the wind putting them on a direct path over the circuit.
The question will be whether the showers and thunder hit the circuit during qualifying. Crucially, the temperature is also set to drop considerably in São Paulo.
Ahead of qualifying, the track temperature is set to drop by 10 degree Celsius since the sprint race, dropping from 48 to 38 degrees Celsius.
According to the FIA, there is an "increasing chance of showers (possibly up to level 3 with a clap of thunder) in the afternoon around qualifying hours and later. Wind decreasing compared to yesterday."
The wind decreasing could be the deciding factor over whether qualifying is hit with a São Paulo downpour.
