Verstappen makes IMSA 'debut' with Honda

Max Verstappen has tasted sportscar machinery in the simulator, but the three-time F1 champion has finally got behind the wheel of the real thing...

Max Verstappen has got to grips with a Honda Acura GTP sportscar for the first time as part of a special Honda promotional day.

On Tuesday ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix where he can become a four-time world champion, Verstappen took the IMSA machine out for a spin in Nevada.

His fellow Red Bull and RB drivers Sergio Perez, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda also participated in the event, testing a variety of machinery.

Perez was in a rally machine whilst Tsunoda got a first taste of IndyCar machinery, with six-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon on hand to provide guidance to all the drivers at the Honda event.

Verstappen had not driven sportscar machinery before, and has expressed a keen interest in competing in the Le Mans 24 Hours or the Daytona 24 Hours at some point in his career.
