Red Bull has rolled out updates for this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix for drivers Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda.

Red Bull was one of the few teams to make tweaks, with the RB21 sporting a new engine cover, introducing subtle changes to reduce the losses incurred by the upper and lower rear wings for more cooling.

Additionally, there was a new rear corner with an enlarged exit duct, and a rear suspension, albeit a mild revision to the lower wishbone shroud and fairing into the rear wheel bodywork.

The only other team running anything of significance was Stake with a new floor, with changes to several areas, including the floor fence, outboard floor and diffuser, aiming to have a better flow field entering the underfloor and improving flow quality all along it.

A new rear wing incorporated changes to the main plane to increase overall efficiency and improve the cleanliness of the assembly, whilst a change to the beam wing added an upper forward element to the main plane, leading to an efficient load increase as well as a positive response on characteristics.

Only three other teams have introduced updates - Haas, Racing Bulls and Williams.

On the Haas is a new floor body, notably with the central area reshaped. Specifically, the geometry has changed the floor volume in floor proximity, targeting improved stability when the car is running at low ride heights in high-speed corners.

The Racing Bulls was simply sporting a reprofiled halo. With a halo passing airflow towards the back of the car, which can influence the rear wing and floor performance, the update has improved the flow quality downstream from the halo.

The Williams has a new front-wing flap and front-wing endplate.

The updated flap geometry produces more local load, which allows the team to efficiently rebalance more load from the rear wing. The interaction of the subsequent flow with the front suspension and brake duct furniture is different, which leads to improved control of the front wheel wake.

The new endplate has a reprofiled lower rear edge and a slightly modified connection to the front wing flap. Working in conjunction with the new flap, the revisions to the endplate have modified the flow leaving the front wing assembly and improved its interaction with the downstream aero devices.
