Max Verstappen has seen his lead in the World Championship standings take a hit after a difficult British Grand Prix for the Dutchman.

Verstappen finished the race down in P7 after struggling with damage to his car, meaning that he was only able to add six points to his tally, bringing his total to 181 points.

Teammate Sergio Perez, meanwhile, ended the day in second, and as such he has boosted his points to 147 points. That has cut Verstappen's lead down to 34 points.

Charles Leclerc remains in third, and his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz has made significant gains following his debut F1 victory at Silverstone.

The Spaniard has overtaken George Russell for fourth, and has 127 points to his name, 11 behind Leclerc.

Ferrari make small gains on Red Bull

Despite Verstappen's tough day, Red Bull are still at the top of the Constructors' Championship with 328 points.

Ferrari have made small gains into their advantage, though, having cut the gap from 76 points to 63 points, as the Scuderia now have 265 points to their name.

Mercedes hold third with 204 points, while Alpine are only six points behind McLaren in the battle for fourth.
