Lance Stroll F1 News

Lance Stroll had a strong start to the 2023 season, scoring several important points. However, as the season progressed, the Aston Martin proved to be less competitive compared to its rivals. This resulted in disappointing results for the Canadian and a lot of criticism. In 2024, Aston Martin also failed to keep up with the top teams and scored significantly fewer points compared to 2023.

With the arrival of Adrian Newey and the switch to Honda engines in 2026, expectations for the future are high. But first: how will Lance Stroll perform in 2025?

Stroll F1

Being the son of billionaire Lawrence Stroll, Lance Stroll always came in for his share of criticism. Despite having the privilege of his family spending large amounts on his career, including the purchase of two teams, the youngster has always delivered, winning titles in every junior formula championship he competed in. 
 

Stroll began karting at the age of 10, and won several titles both in North America and in Europe. He made his car racing debut in the Florida Winter Series, where he claimed two podium finishes. He then went on to win the Italian Formula 4 championship in 2014 with Prema.

The Canadian would then win the 2015 Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand with M2 Racing, before making his way up the ladder by competing in the FIA Formula 3 Euro Series in the same year. Racing for the Prema Powerteam, which his father now owned, Stroll finished sixth in his rookie year. The grid consisted of several future F1 drivers, including Antonio Giovinazzi, Charles Leclerc, George Russell and Alex Albon. 
 

Stroll continued in the F3 Euro Series for another season, this time winning the championship after taking 14 wins from 30 races. He would also serve as a reserve driver for Williams in F1, and he landed a race seat with the team in 2017.

First podium for Stroll

Despite facing accusations of being a pay driver, Stroll has proven to be more than handy behind the wheel of a race car. He finished on the podium in Azerbaijan in his rookie season, and lost out to his vastly more experienced teammate Felipe Massa by only three points over the course of the campaign. 2018 proved to be a disappointing year for the Canadian, though he still beat his teammate Sergey Sirotkin. 
 

In 2019, Stroll moved to the new Racing Point team, which was once again owned by his father. A disappointing first season led to an improvement for 2020, and Stroll ended the year in 11th place, scoring two podiums along the way.

Aston Martin's plan is to become a top team within a few years, but in 2021, not much progress was seen. Vettel and Stroll finished twelfth and thirteenth respectively in the drivers' championship. Aston Martin finished seventh, ahead of Williams, Alfa Romeo, and Haas. In 2022, Vettel and Stroll formed a duo again, but in the season with new F1 regulations, Aston Martin couldn't make a significant impact. The team finished seventh in the final standings.

Vettel announced in 2022 that he would be retiring from Formula 1 after that season. In 2023, Stroll continued to race for the British team, now with two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, who switched from Alpine to Aston Martin. This driver duo will also race for Aston Martin in 2025.
