Former Williams Team Principal Jost Capito has started a new role as Senior Advisor in the US-based Nitrocross series.
Capito was appointed as Williams team boss in mid-2021 after a spell as CEO, and led the team until the end of the 2022 campaign when he stepped down, to be replaced by Mercedes' James Vowles.
The German also had a brief stint at McLaren, being appointed in autumn 2016 but leaving the role less than two years later after Sir Ron Dennis had been ousted and new CEO Zak Brown put his own team in place. Capito had a background in the World Rally Championship with spells at BMW, Ford and Volkswagen.
Capito has now agreed to become a senior advisor for the series, created in part by Travis Pastrana, the US racer and stunt performer.
“My strong belief in Rallycross and its future, now featuring powerful and exciting EVs, motivates me to contribute to Nitrocross,” explained Capito.
“After speaking with Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White, I am confident our collective vision is to not only push the boundaries of motorsports but also inspire a new era of competition and innovation."
Capito is joined by ex-NASCAR executive Mike Laheta in joining Nitrocross.
