Charles Leclerc wrecks Ferrari in early Canadian GP practice crash

Charles Leclerc has lost crucial track time in Montreal, following a nasty accident in the opening 15 minutes of first practice.

Charles Leclerc has triggered a red flag just 15 minutes into first practice ahead of this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, following a bizarre crash at Turn 4.

The Ferrari driver suffered a lock-up on the entry to Turn 3 which saw him skip across the grass on the inside of the chicane; however, he clipped the wall which destroyed his left-front.

As a result, his car spun and went rearwards into the wall on the exit of Turn 4, marking a disastrous start to his weekend at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Leclerc immediately accepted responsibility for the crash on the Ferrari radio, and said: "**** sorry, I'm in the wall. Yeah my bad. I should've gone straight. I thought I will just make it but I clipped the wall."

For Ferrari, it leaves the Maranello-based outfit already with a major repair job to undergo before second practice.

As for Leclerc, the Monegasque has lost crucial track time on a weekend which, again, features the fascinating C6 compound.
