First practice ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was red-flagged just after 10 minutes of running, under odd circumstances.
A small piece of debris no larger than the palm of a hand was spotted at Turn 14, which had to quickly be retrieved by a marshal.
It was an excellent spot by race control and the marshals, as it would have caused significant floor damage despite its small size, had it been driven over.
Several drivers complained of low grip in the opening minutes, with track evolution expected to play a key role in Baku this weekend.
At the time of the red flag, Max Verstappen sat at the top of the timesheets, three tenths of a second ahead of Charles Leclerc.
