Although all signs point towards Formula 1 introducing sprint races this season, the idea isn't one that Max Verstappen fully endorses. While the final details have yet to be worked out, including the name , the plan is for the races to be on Saturday after receiving support from teams. While Verstappen is open to trying the idea out, he doesn't think much will change in the grand scheme of things. "I am open to trying, but in the end the best cars will continue to drive at the front," Verstappen told Ziggo Sport. "I think little will change, but it's ok to try. "Personally, I much prefer that you look forward to the race on Sunday, the Grand Prix. That is and will always be special. If you change too much, you already know on Saturday who will dominate on Sunday. "I think it's much more important to get the cars closer together so you can race better. I recently saw a video of myself on YouTube from 2016 and I was shocked how many overtaking actions there were then. The years after that it was many times less. "I think we should focus more on how we make the cars more fun for the fans. That you can follow and overtake each other better, instead of making a lot of changes to the race weekend." However there is one part of the weekend that Verstappen would change. "Friday is pretty boring now," Verstappen added. "Maybe you should go to a two-day GP weekend, with only Saturday and Sunday."
