Verstappen plays down chances of Spa 2022 fightback repeat

Max Verstappen has cooled talk to trying to repeat his remarkable Formula 1 victory from the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix, which resulted in him driving from 14th to win the race.

Max Verstappen has attempted to cool hopes of a race victory after his shock elimination from the Saudi Arabian Formula 1 qualifying. The Dutchman will start the race from P15 after a suspected driveshaft issue ended his qualifying efforts. The reigning champion had looked in fine form before the shock elimination. Given the pace of the Red Bull shown in Jeddah, Verstappen was asked about his chances of achieving a podium finish, or maybe even winning the race altogether. "Starting around that spot [in Saudi Arabia] is normally a bit of chaos on the first lap," Verstappen explained to media, including RacingNews365.com . "It's not like some places, you can't just like run off the track to avoid things because there is a wall. It's definitely I think a little bit more tricky than a lap one in Spa, for example. "I'm sure that we can move forward. I do think that trying to win the race is a bit of a stretch because of the management that needs to happen on the tyres, and everyone just seems to drive to a certain pace. "We'll try to recover as much as we can, and I know it's a long season, so a lot of things can happen."
