Mick Schumacher has issued a statement on social media thanking fans for support amid career “setbacks”.

Schumacher raced the 2024 season in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine, scoring one podium during the campaign while also serving as the Mercedes F1 reserve driver.

The German was also seeking a route back to the F1 grid following his axe from Haas at the end of the 2022 season and was mentioned to be a contender for various projects including Audi and Alpine.

Schumacher was also linked with a mid-season promotion to Williams which failed to transpire as the Grove-based outfit promoted Franco Colapinto to replace Logan Sargeant.

Recent reports have also suggested Schumacher was snubbed for a Ferrari hypercar drive in WEC, despite his long association with the Italian company.

Taking to social media on Sunday, Schumacher declared: “Life doesn't always go as planned, and setbacks can be tough to face.

“But every challenge is a chance to learn, grow, and come back even stronger. This is just a chapter, not the whole story.

“The journey continues, and I'm determined to rise above it. Thank you all for your support, it means the world.”

Schumacher's racing plans for next year have not yet been confirmed.
