Thanks to the safety features of both contemporary F1 cars and tracks, the French driver was able to escape the incident with nothing more than some burns to hands, especially given the magnitude of the accident. Grosjean has had to wear bandages around his hands since the incident, but is occasionally allowed to air his hands out. During these moments he updates his fans regarding his process as we can see below. Looking at the photo it becomes clear why he had to miss the final two races of the season and how racing in them was never an option despite the wishes of fans and Grosjean himself.
