Liam Lawson has explained why he maintains his firm attitude that his self-confidence has not been impacted by his Red Bull stint.
The New Zealander has consistently maintained throughout 2025 that his self-confidence was not impacted by his brutal Red Bull axing after just two races, and demotion back to Racing Bulls.
He first scored points in Monaco, and then after a suspension change in Austria, has scored points in three of four races, including back-to-back eighth places in Belgium and Hungary - the first time he had scored points in consecutive races in F1.
Detailing just why he feels his confidence was not dented, Lawson explained how his focus was actually on continuing to haul points and deliver strong performances.
"Honestly, it is not something that changes," Lawson explained when asked by RacingNews365 if his confidence had been building after the recent good results.
"Because I feel lucky that I've only known one thing I've wanted to do since I was a kid, and for some reason, even before I was driving, I felt like I could do it.
"Then I started racing go-karts and thought I could be an F1 driver, and that approach has never changed.
"I've always had that confidence since being a kid, and you have things for sure which can be mentally tough throughout your career, but the confidence has never really changed.
"Yes, we've had a couple of good weekends, and I understand more why these weekends are working and trying to replicate them, but in terms of self-confidence or feeling, it doesn't really change."
