Lewis Hamilton pinpoints exact area Ferrari must strengthen

Lewis Hamilton has one area he feels Ferrari must address to be able to display its full potential.

Lewis Hamilton has identified one trait of the Ferrari F1 car that is making him "overdrive."

The Briton has yet to finish on a grand prix podium for Ferrari and has struggled to adapt to the SF-25 after 12 seasons with Mercedes.

Hamilton had mentioned engine braking as one area he was not used to, having never previously used it at Mercedes, but has made positive steps forward over recent races.

He has out-qualified team-mate Charles Leclerc at three of the previous four races, and was within a tenth of doing so in Austria, and has taken back-to-back fourth places across the Spielberg and Silverstone rounds.

Ferrari is currently working on a rear suspension upgrade, which is hoped will solve the ride height issues plaguing the car and allow Hamilton and Leclerc to run the car closer to the track to boost the ground effects created.

However, Hamilton has pinpointed another area he'd also like to see addressed.

"We have low-speed understeer, which is inherent with this car," Hamilton told media, including RacingNews365.

"I think we're over-driving to get that extra bit of time, but on actual pure pace, the car is as quick as those ahead.

"We're probably having to do a little bit too far, which is making the car a bit more peaky, so we need to find a little bit more performance."
