Charles Leclerc has no concerns over Ferrari introducing a major upgrade at the Belgian Grand Prix during a sprint weekend.
Ferrari is set to roll out a new suspension at Spa-Francorchamps for round 13 of the F1 campaign.
The Italian squad has endured a difficult season to date and is still awaiting its first win, despite sitting second in the constructors' standings.
It will have just one practice session to get up to speed with the new part with the alternate weekend format in place - but it's a situation that doesn't worry Leclerc.
“It’s a sprint weekend, so obviously we only have FP1,” the Monegasque told media including RacingNews365.
“But I'm relatively confident it shouldn't cause too many problems. It was in development and in the programme to put it here for a long time.
“I’m happy that we are putting it [on] as soon as possible, which I hope will give us a step forward. And I don't anticipate any struggles with that.”
Leclerc asserted the new parts will deliver a boost to setting up the car, rather than directly impacting performance.
“I can find the confidence if I set up the car in a different way. So if I need confidence, I'll go for that,” he said.
“But I prefer to go for performance rather than confidence. It doesn't always pay off, and I think we've seen it at last race weekend in Silverstone, where obviously I had my struggles, which were pretty big in the wet.
“I know this is the risk of running such an extreme set-up.
“I don’t think this will improve with that, because we still need to set up the car in a relatively similar position in order to extract the maximum out of it. But I'm happy to follow that path.”
