Lando Norris quickly accepted defeat to Oscar Piastri in the Spanish Grand Prix, noting that he could not match his team-mate's pace.
The Briton started in second but made a poor start in Barcelona, causing him to fall behind Max Verstappen into the first corner.
However, Norris quickly fought back past Verstappen, who he had significantly better pace than. Unfortunately, second was the highest he could achieve.
Piastri's pace out front was too strong for the 25-year-old, who has fallen to 10 points behind his team-mate in the title fight.
Norris did have a small chance at overtaking the Australian in the closing laps, following a late safety car after a power unit failure for Kimi Antonelli forced him to stop.
To Norris' disadvantage, Piastri made a strong restart and went on to secure victory by 2.4s. Norris was not overly disappointed, and recognised his team-mate was stronger.
"I did, yes, but Oscar drove a very good race today," said Norris, when asked if he gave everything. "Didn't quite have the pace to match him, but we gave it our best shot.
"It's a long race, anything could have happened at the end, we both got pretty sideways with the safety car restart. It was a good fun race. And for us as a team, to finish one-two is even better."
