F1 fans deliver Lewis Hamilton major boost after difficult Ferrari start

As Lewis Hamilton's difficult first campaign with Ferrari continues, the calls for him to consider retiring from F1 have grown louder - but fans of the championship see things differently.

Lewis Hamilton has endured an underwhelming start to his Ferrari tenure, to the extent question marks over his F1 future have began to arise.

The 40-year-old has scored a sprint victory, in China, and a further sprint podium, in Miami, but has otherwise been consigned to points finishes for the Maranello-based squad.

Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc has taken three grand prix podiums, in Saudi Arabia, Monaco and Spain, respectively.

Whilst the performance deficit to his team-mate is closing, and only 23 points separate the pair in the championship standings, Hamilton has been on the receiving end of forthright criticism for his form, from inside and outside the F1 paddock.

Despite holding a two-year contract with the Italian team, it has been suggested by some that the Scuderia should consider looking for alternatives for 2026 - and that Hamilton should think about stepping away from F1 entirely.

However, in a recent poll by RacingNews365, a majority of respondents voiced the opinion that the British driver should not consider retirement, with only 44 percent - fittingly, due to his racing number - arguing it is perhaps time for him to walk away.

This did however, include just shy of four percent of voters who contended he may be best served taking a year out to revitalise himself.
